Hablamos Juntos. Universal Hospital Symbols

Within a graduate symbol design studio course I worked on a Universal Hospital Symbols project led by Professor Lisa Fontaine. This project was initiated by Hablamos Juntos in collaboration with the Society for Environmental Graphic Design.

The purpose was to create universal symbols that help non-English speakers find their way through health care facilities.

The design process included study of existing pictographic symbols and symbol taxonomy, as well as methods and standards of designing new symbols. The matrix method was used to choose symbols that communicate the most attributes within their subject for the user testing.

After the design I also participated on user testing and data collection.
